Q. How often should I have my chimney cleaned?
A. At least once a year to maintain efficient burning, and to prevent chimney fires.

Q. Will my insurance pay out on a chimney fire?
A. This will depend on your insurance company. They may ask for proof when it was last cleaned.

Q. When I shut the wood burner door the fire goes out!
A. Either the fire needs a clean, the wood is too wet or the vent may not be opening properly.

Q. When I adjust the vent to turn the fire down nothing happens!
A. You may need glass or door seal. The firebox could be cracked.

Q. My wood burner doesn’t seem to give out much heat.
A. Either the wood is too wet, you need a new baffle plate or the flue needs a clean.

Q. My open fireplace blows back smoke in strong winds.
A. In most cases an H-pot cowling needs to be fitted on top of the chimney.

Q. How long does it take for wood to dry?
A. 12 months for Pine and Macracapa, 2 years for Gum and Manuka.
